About

Holmes, you must widen your gaze.

Lord Henry Blackwell - Sherlock Holmes (2009)

I’ll tell you what I love best about what I do: it makes me think around corners.

I’ve been a creative of one kind or another in Southern California since 1999. Here's what I'm good at:

UI/UX DESIGN FOR WEB & MOBILE APPS   |   STRATEGIC CONCEPT & CAMPAIGN DEVELOPMENT    |   LOGO & IDENTITY DESIGN

I like to let the work speak for itself, but in this case, I convinced everyone else to talk about me below. Hit me up if you’d like to grab a cold beer and talk about your next project!

Brian is bullheaded. Relentless. And he's definitely not an order-taker.

Cheryl Elizaga, Freelance Copywriter & Brand Strategist

Brian is bullheaded. Relentless. And he's definitely not an order-taker.

If you're looking to make an impact, he's the Creative you need.

In my four years working with Brian I've seen him do it all: direct photoshoots, oversee video production, build brands from the ground up and change the face of legacy ones. But I've most enjoyed watching Brian bring out the best in his team, calling us out on our stagnancy and challenging us to be better than even we thought possible.

That's probably why clients keep him around—the ones who recognize the concept of "evolve or die", at least. He has this eery, spot-on instinct about pipe dreams vs. reality and always fights for what is best for the end user—a fight that is missing from so many creatives when big money and egos are involved. No matter how sizable the need, Brian approaches every project with the same creative integrity, which I appreciate.

On a personal level, I can sum up Brian's impact on me in four simple words: he changed my life. There is no one who's affected my career more than him. Brian truly recognized, pushed, and prodded the Creative within, and it's been a joy to see other Creatives and big accounts flourish under his direction.

If someone told me I had to work with one of my past creative directors for the rest of my career then I’d have to choose Brian, without hesitation.

Sarah Jane Allen,  Art Director

If someone told me I had to work with one of my past creative directors for the rest of my career then I’d have to choose Brian, without hesitation.

Here’s why:

He’s the kind of mentor that believes in you and makes you believe in yourself.
He pushes you to constantly to be better, do better, think better.
And he asks you to push him back. Not typical, ever.
Brian will never sugarcoat anything. He’s real like that.
He fights for his team and their creative work.
His design skills are admirable and flawless. I never doubted his feedback because he had the chops to back it up. Also not typical.
Brian was the only CD that took time out of every single week, in the three years I worked with him, to sit down with me and talk about my career, where I wanted it to go, and how could he help to get it there.

With his acumen and insight he’s able to scope out projects and guide clients in direction that turns their vision into a working concept that meets their objectives...

Dave Cardenas, Digital Marketing / SEM Manager at Tampa Jiu Jitsu

I’ve worked with Brian on many different website projects over the last 17 years.

Brian is able to work with clients to understand their vision and overall mission. With his acumen and insight he’s able to scope out projects and guide clients in direction that turns their vision into a working concept that meets their objectives and exceeds the project’s goal and expectations.

Brian is also an exceptional manager. He’s able to direct and get the most out of his team, so projects stay on budget and meet their deadlines. I’ve watched Brian take raw talented new recruits, hone and develop their skills, which has allowed them to take the next steps in their respective careers.

Brian always struck the right balance.

Scott Chavez,  Copywriter

Great Creative Directors are a rare thing to find. Not so much due to the job responsibilities (which are nothing to scoff at), but more so because the qualities a Creative Director must embody are a bit of a contradiction. And the secret isn’t finding the middle ground between said qualities. That’s much too simple. Instead, it’s about finding the right balance. The right balance between:

Approachability — Authoritativeness
Defending Creative — Defending Client’s Needs
Leading — Letting Others Lead
Knowing When You’re Right — Knowing When You’re Wrong

I could go on and on...

But no matter the comparative qualities, Brian always struck the right balance. And in the two plus years I worked with him leading, teaching, and creatively pushing me, I can honestly say I wish I had more time. Because like I wrote at the top, great Creative Directors are a rare thing to find.

Other than rooting for the Boston Red Sox, I would say Brian is an all around good guy.

Mike Walsh, Founder/CEO LACED Agency

Brian has collaborated with LACED Agency @lacedtweet, over the past couple of years both as a CD, as well as conceptual interactive designer. I like his straight forward attitude, and his confidence when it comes to pushing conceptual design. Brian is great to work with, and has a positive - Let's get it done attitude. His passion for design, can be seen in his drive & determination for staying ahead of digital design trends & technologies.

Other than rooting for the Boston Red Sox, I would say Brian is an all around good guy.
